About Us...

From the year 2005 to the present:

ICE Electrical Solutions has risen through major rebranding, shareholder transitions and restructure of its operational management team over the last 3 years. This coupled along with the recession has provided a major challenge for the company to build upon its previous success and provide even better skills and service to its clients.

We are focused on providing a service “like no other” to our clients. This is generally achieved by our personal dedicated approach starting at the design stage to discuss our client’s requirements and offer suggestions on how best to carry out the project to achieve an economic cutting edge solution.

We currently have a team of 14 which includes 5 apprentices. Training of our apprentices is generally hands on where skills are developed side by side with a tradesman. All our staff are “Site Safe” and are capable of carrying out their own hazard ID of the work place as safety is always the dominant factor in our daily tasks.

Our team is dedicated to the end result and committed to satisfying our client’s needs. We pride our selves on our local reputation of providing excellent high end service and are expecting to increase our team members in the near future to keep up with the demand of our ever increasing satisfied client base.

From the 1 man band to the year 2005:

ICE Electrical Solutions is the product of 12 years development by Chris & Jenny Hill and during the last five years the addition of David Frank and Anton Hutton as shareholders. Anton has since left to follow other dreams. His departure has made way for the addition of Wayne Thompson and John Westell as share holders.

Formerly CG and JM Hill Electrical, ICE Electrical Solutions started as a “one man band”. Initially involved in predominantly domestic installation and servicing, a number opportunities to take on bigger projects presented themselves. One of these was a contract with the Housing Corporation of New Zealand to rewire homes in the new Plymouth District. In total over two hundred homes were rewired through this contract and as a result staff were employed to help complete the work. Following from this the first significant commercial contract was won with Fletcher Construction to redevelop the National Bank premises on Devon Street in New Plymouth. Many similar projects were to follow with staff numbers gradually increasing over the next 5 years, included the training of apprentices.

Projects of increasing size and complexity have allowed for steady growth in staffing numbers, these have included The Warehouse on Devon Street, The Puke Ariki Library and Museum project in 2001 saw staff levels increase to 12 and the development of a management team able to cope with a number of significant projects concurrently. During the three year Puke Ariki development other projects included two Harvey Norman stores and the Warehouse at Bell Block. The Company’s ability to manage a number of larger projects at the same time was a direct result of the accumulated experience and the addition of key staff over a number of years. During the latter half of 2005 the company was re branded to ICE Electrical Solutions and also was successful in winning four major projects which were completed during a 16 month period. These included the new Harvey Norman development in Lower Hutt, Pak n Save in New Plymouth and in Hawera, and the new Mega Centre in the Waiwakio valley.

Chris Hill had assumed the role of managing director with David Frank as operations manger. During this recent period the company demonstrated its ability to manage four significant projects successfully and is now looking to further challenges in the future.
