Taranaki Cancer Society Builder : King and Steer Construction Architect: BGBB Year : 2008 When the Taranaki Cancer Society required a new building to operate from, local Architecture firm Boon Goldsmith Bhaskar Brebner steeped in to design this one of a kind Taranaki landmark |

The Taranaki Cancer Society was won at tender
stage during December 2007. Lengthy delays in
the start of construction were contributed by
the existing house not being removed from the
site until the middle of 2008. These delays
affected the work load of ICE Electrical and
when the project finally started it added
considerable pressure to man power requirements
due to commitments of other projects taken on to
fill the void of this delayed project.
With its exposed industrial look, Ice took on
the challenge to install recessed halogen and T5
fluorescent lighting into perforated cable trays
running the length of the hallways and office
spaces. This challenge combined with internal
precast walls and floor to ceiling glass
partitions required considerable forward
planning to ensure that cable routes were
entirely correct prior to the installation of
these walls and partitions. Any errors in this
planning would be just about be irrecoverable
and extremely costly for ICE Electrical to
correct if it was at all possible. The project also involved installation of the structured cabling for the data and phones system and audio visual wiring and equipment in the meeting room. This was now becoming a regular requirement included within the electrical sub trade which Ice Electrical once again successfully completing to the clients requirements. |
